Grandchamp and the Port of Montreal have joined forces to carry out a major tent structure project on the banks of the Saint Lawrence in Montreal. Due to major restoration work on the Alexandra Pier and the Passenger Terminal, the Montreal Port Authority (MPA) has moved the terminal approximately 7 km east. As a result, two large, semi-permanent tents will be erected to provide regular services to cruise ship passengers.
Grandchamp Chapiteaux spent several months developing a unique tent to win over the Port of Montreal. The tent structure we presented to the authority meets the port’s standards and reflects the image of cruise lines and the city of Montreal.
Grandchamp Structure Design, a sister company of Grandchamp Chapiteaux, created an innovative oval design for the structure and revolutionized the tent industry by offering an outstanding product to its clients.
The project consists of two large, free-standing structures with a total length of 700 ft. They will serve as an alternative maritime terminal for cruise ships throughout the summer. Designed and constructed entirely by the Grandchamp group, the tents boast unrivalled strength and wind resistance of up to 140 km/h. That makes this tent structure the strongest ever designed in North America!
